Comunn Eachdraidh Nis (Ness Historical Society) Soup And Pudding Lunch

A local cause close to our hearts at the North Lewis Blog is Comunn Eachdraidh Nis or Ness Historical Society, to give it its English title. The Comunn Eachdraidh does amazing work in preserving the local history, culture, language and genealogy of the North Lewis community. The museum is managed by a board of directors who give of their time without remuneration. This makes it even more remarkable to discover that it has been granted the status of a Fully Accredited Museum by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council/Museums, Galleries Scotland - one of only three in the Western Isles to achieve this award. Even more remarkable is the fact that the museum is independent, i.e. not  financed by the local authority or any other public or private body. This means that fundraising is a never-ending struggle. There is an opportunity for the North Lewis community to show their support for this priceless organisation by coming along to the Comunn Eachdraidh on Saturday, 3rd August for a soup and pudding lunch. For those who do not have time to sit down to lunch, takeaways are available - and all this for the princely sum of £5. Come on folk, dig deep!
