Hebridean Sheepdog Trials Circuit

Having started in Waternish, Isle of Skye on Saturday, 13th July, the circuit moved on to the Western Isles, with the Island of Berneray on Monday, Scarista, Isle of Harris, on Tuesday and Shawbost, Isle of Lewis, on Wednesday. Today is the last leg of the Lewis trials and they are taking place here in Ness, Isle of Lewis, as I write this blog. The venue is the machair, near Spòrs Nis Sports Centre, on the road to the Butt of Lewis and the lighthouse. The weather is absolutely perfect for trials - dry, with a breeze that ensures there will be no midges to make the sheep cranky. No excuses then guys! Tomorrow, the circuit returns to the Isle of Skye, at Staffin, and then on to Dunvegan, on Saturday, for the final session. Sheepdog trialists are a dedicated breed and travel from all over the UK and Ireland to compete and support the cause.
